DISH customers get a special treat this month with the premium service MGM+ offering a free preview Friday, June 14 through Monday, June 17. The free preview is aligned with one of the network’s biggest original series to date, Hotel Cocaine, from the creator of Narcos and Godfather of Harlem (also an MGM+ original).
Set in 1978 Miami, Hotel Cocaine (debuting Sunday, June 16) is the story of Roman Compte, a Cuban exile and general manager of the Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of the late ’70s and early ’80s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine. Businessmen (Royal Pains’ Mark Feuerstein plays the tripped-out hotel owner), politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents (The Shield’s Michael Chiklis is back), models, sports stars, and musicians all frequented the hotel and its glitzy nightclub and restaurant. At the center of it all was Compte (Danny Pino), who did his best to keep it all going and fulfill his own American dream.
Over the course of the eight-episode season, Roman walks the tightrope between the DEA, who have his daughter’s fate in their hands, and his older brother Nestor (Yul Vazquez), Miami’s biggest supplier of cocaine. Together, the pair face ruthless rival Colombian cocaine suppliers as the brothers ensure their drug domination in Miami and keep their families safe. Hotel Cocaine is a meditation on family, brotherhood, the American dream and the American nightmare, and what we will do to survive and protect the people we love.
In addition to the new series, you can watch recent blockbuster movies like Tina Fey’s new Mean Girls and The Beekeeper, as well as classics like No Way Out, Valkyrie, Minority Report, Scarface and more.
