Bring The Big Screen To Your Home With On Demand

One of my favorite summer pastimes is going to the movie theater. Not only is summer typically when my favorite movies of the year come out, but going to the theater is also a great escape from the heat. However, due to the impacts of COVID-19, theaters around the world have been closed and many anticipated movie releases have been postponed. While this is definitely a small impact of the devastating pandemic, we at DISH still want to help keep you and your family entertained. That’s why we have partnered with several studios to offer you some new movies On Demand that were supposed to be released in theaters. To check out what’s available, visit Channels 1 or 501. Or, on your Hopper, Joey or Wally, tune to Channel 300 to launch the On Demand library, and then look to the “Early Access — Bringing the Theater Home to You” shelf. On the lighter side is the Steve Carell and Chris Cooper comedy Irresistible, which is being released June 26. Written by Jon Stewart, this political comedy tells the story of what happens when a small Wisconsin town becomes the main attraction of a political circus. If you’re looking for a good summer scare, Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried’s You Should Have Left will definitely have you jumping out of your seat. This psychological thriller is based on the 2017 German novella of the same name by Daniel Kehlmann, and tells the eerie tale of a screenwriter who rents a house with his family to finish his script. If you liked The Shining, you’ll like this. One action-packed film coming is Money Plane, starring Adam Copeland, Kelsey Grammer, Denise Richards and Thomas Jane. The storyline follows a professional thief in over his head with debt, whose family is on the line unless he can successfully rob an airborne casino filled with the world’s most dangerous criminals. Most theatrical early release movies are available to rent for $19.99, which is a pretty good deal when you consider the cost of tickets and food for your whole family to go to the movie theater. It’s also a good time to catch up on some lesser known, commercial-free films that debuted earlier in the year in theaters, and are available at our standard rates. The underrated, star-packed crime caper The Gentlemen was a fast-paced (although vulgar at times) twisty good time. Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Eddie Marsan and Jeremy Strong are all at their best. Mark Ruffalo’s Dark Waters is inspired by a shocking true story, about a tenacious attorney who uncovers a number of unexplained deaths linked to one of the world’s largest corporations. The gripping film also stars Anne Hathaway. Another drama based on a true story comes from filmmaker Clint Eastwood. Inspired by real events, Richard Jewell tells the heartbreaking story of a security guard falsely accused of the 1996 Atlanta bombing. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show from the comfort of your own home! Colleen Skells From all of us at DISH, we hope you and your family are safe and healthy.
